How to use the Demand/Response System
Demand/Response serves all passengers outside of the fixed route area.
Demand/Response also serves the disabled certified by Americans with Disabilities Act, giving priority to those ADA passengers traveling inside the ADA area, a 3/4 mile area surrounding the fixed routes.
If you are located inside the fixed route are and your destination is outside the fixed route area, you will need to schedule the portion of your trip not covered by the fixed route. Likewise, you will need to schedule a Demand/Response bus to get to a fixed route transfer point if you are located outside the fixed route area and your destination is inside the fixed route area.
How to schedule a Demand/Response bus
Please call the Fort Smith Transit Department during the following hours.
Monday-Friday 8:00am - 3:00pm
Monday-Friday 3:00pm - 5:00pm (Certified ADA Only)
Saturday 9:00am - 2:00pm
Saturday 2:00pm - 4:00pm (Certified ADA Only)
Sundays & Holidays 9:00am - 2:00pm (Certified ADA Only)
You MUST call one day prior to the date you need your ride scheduled.
After your ride is scheduled
Please be ready 15 minutes prior to your scheduled pick up time, although the bus may arrive up to 15 minutes after the scheduled time.
All no shows will be charged a $2.00 no show fee.
(a no show is if you schedule a Demand/Response bus that comes to your pick up point and you are not there)
All Demand/Response buses have a line up transfer point at Central Mall on :30 after every hour.
